Colleagues
I have received today a circular advertiseing a study day in Manchester at
the Dental Centre. It talks about meeting the challenges of A & E
modernisation.
The lecturers include the usual group of near comtempories. I was vaguely
interested until I saw the price for delegates. It is £325 plus VAT, that
is nearly 400 quid. I don't care what anybody says it is a pure and
undulterated rip off, in my opinion.
When I was first appointed a consultant the DOH under Dr Doreen Rothman used
to have national seminars on such things as MTOS. I might add with
international speakers of the ilk of Don Trunkey and Norman McSwain. They
were free to delegates. Only last week I was invited to a similar
conference by Toxbase and again it was free. Superbly oraganised and VFM.
For the price of the conference I could fly to Paris go on a week end course
and take my wife shopping.
I apologise for posting it on the list, but it just isn't value for money.
When you compare it with the BTS Conference it is obscene.
I think £100 is acceptable but nearly £400 forget it.
