This should be put on top of the to do list for all QDA software
developers. The lack of support for effective teamwork in current software
is a major obstacle to use QDA packages effectively.
The combination of multiple coders (either for interrater agreement on
homogenous coding or to draw on the competence on heterogenous coding) and
file sharing (particularly over the Internet) are not supported by any QDA
package (I would love to be wrong on this one).
However, a workaround is to code the documents manually in Word (or any
word processor with similar functionality) and use the review functions
(track changes and version control) to develop a jointly coded document
BEFORE importing them into NVIVO. With structured use of key words ans
syntaxt of coding it should be fairly easy to automate the coding in NVIVO
when the documents are imported.
