INTRODUCTION TO FOCUS GROUPS
26th September 2000, 9.30am - 5.00pm
Voluntary Resource Centre, 365 Holloway Road, London, N7 6PA

By popular demand the SRA is repeating this introduction to conducting focus
groups. It is aimed primarily at people in their first two years of working
in social research, although everyone is welcome. The course will cover
sampling, recruiting and moderating focus group discussions, exploring
practical and methodological issues. Participants will be given the
opportunity to watch demonstration groups and participate in some practical
exercises. Delegates will be encouraged to bring questions and queries from
their own work in order to help tailor the course as closely as possible to
the needs of participants. Please note that this day is intended for
participants who already have a grounding in qualitative research methods
but wish to learn more about using group techniques, also the day will not
cover the analysis of group data in depth. Students please note: there will
be one free place available for any student or unwaged member who is willing
to write a review of the proceedings of the day for the SRA newsletter.

EARLY BOOKING IS ADVISED TO ENSURE A PLACE ON THIS COURSE: PLACES WILL BE
LIMITED
