RESEARCH ASSISTANT/FELLOW
ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL RESEARCH COUNCIL FUNDED PROJECT:
MOTHERS IN ADVERSITY COPING WITH CHILD CARE.
Salary: stlg15,737 (Pay award pending)
Applications are invited from candidates to carry out research on the
above project under the Direction of Professor Michael Sheppard,
together with Ms. Melanie Joyner and Professor Michael Hyland. The
research seeks to examine the ways mothers, who generally take
responsibility for the care of their children, cope in adversity with
child care problems. The research will focus on mothers who have
sought support from social services, or for whom support has been
sought on their behalf, but for whom extended help was not provided.
Candidates should, as a minimum, have completed (or be near completion
of) a Masters degree in a relevant social science, including
Psychology, Sociology or Social Work. They must also have completed a
post-graduate training in Research Methods (which may have been part
of their Masters degree).
The project is expected to begin in October 2000, and to last for 13
months.
