-----
ESSIR'2000 is the third European Summer School in Information
Retrieval. The first one was organised by the University of Padova

This five-day school (Monday to Friday) will give participants a
grounding in the core subjects of IR - architectures, algorithms,
formal theoretical models of IR, and evaluation - as well as covering
some of the current "hot" topics such as the digital libraries,
retrieving from multimedia document collections, and retrieving over
wide area networks such as the Internet and the Web.
The target audience of the Summer School are advanced undergraduate
students, PhD students, postdocs and academic and industrial
