INTEGRATION Consultants have an own presentation in the Thematic Area.
With our partner, the Water Conservancy Bureau the A.R. Tibet we show how
we use the unending power of water to meet the basic needs.
Please visit this site directly at http://integration.org/shp
It is based on the Small Hydro Power Project, a German bilateral
Co-operation project which INTEGRATION implements in Tibet since 1995 on
behalf of GTZ. The main goal of the project is to contribute to the
improvement of living conditions of the rural population by supplying
them
with electricity. The power should be used not only for private
consumption, but also for productive purposes, thus initiating new job
opportunities, providing means for the processing of local products with
accompanying income generating aspects. All stations rehabilitated are
privatised and operated by a leaseholder. Tariffs are fixed at a price
that covers at least the operational costs plus a profit rate for the
leaseholder and part of the depreciation rate. The project is working in
three districts of the A.R. Tibet, namely Lhasa, Shanan and Linzhi. By
May
2000, 77 villages and communities with a total population of 21,500 have
been connected. The project will continue until 2004.
INTEGRATION has also assisted the country presentation of the Republic of
Moldova, the West of the East. Moldova presents itself in a vineyard: at
the end of the vineyard is a typical Moldovan house with wooden roof and
blue facade. The house consists of a living room - the "Casa Mare" - and
several cellar rooms. The "Casa Mare" is furnished in the style of a
traditional living room with furniture from the "Mästro Manole" arts and
crafts school. This leads to the cellar: In the "Room of today" visitors
are provided with information on today's modern Moldova. Anyone who
wishes
can send an email to an Internet café in the capital Chisinau. In the
"Well room", a video show projects pictures of the Moldovan landscape
onto
the water in the well. The stones on the walls open when they are touched
to reveal historical maps, busts of Lenin or cartoons for the children.
Visitors can taste Moldovan wine in the wine cellar next door. You can
