Keynote speaker: Dr Susie Orbach ‘What Can the Therapist’s Body Tell Us?
· Susie Orbach’s interest in the relationship of body and mind grew out of
her work with women with eating and body image problems. She has been
particularly concerned to understand bodily counter-transference, the
physical feelings that are aroused in the therapist when working with
patients.
Prof. Robert M. Young: ‘Ways of Thinking about the Mind/Body Problem’
· A discussion of the history of the mind/body problem and its impact in
biology, philosophy and medicine, with particular emphasis on the issues it
raises for the theory, practice and conceptual location of psychoanalytic
therapy.
