I am forwarding this message on behalf of Professor Byung-Doo Choi, local
organiser of the 2nd ICG conference in Korea. Please correspond directly
with Professor Choi regarding the grant.
cheers,
lawrence
Dear all
I am the local organizer of the 2nd ICGG meeting in Taegu, S. Korea. I
appreciate whole-heartedly all of you who are interested in and/or have
decided to attend the Taegu conference.
I applied a grant for the conference to the Korean Research Foundation
(KRF), and recently received a formal document that it will support the
conference with about US$ 6300 (W.7,000,000). As the conditions of this
grant, its usage is confined strictly to (1) subsidy only for flight of
foreign participants (and not for their accommodation, meals, and other
expenditures for their staying), (2) cost for publication of the
proceedings, (3) cost for renting conference rooms, (4) other expenditures
(within 20%).
Thus, I would like to announce two points.
1. Those who need a subsidy for travel to attend the conference can submit
his/her application for it to me as soon as possible (there is no formal
application form). Perhaps we can agree with some conditions to allocate
the grant among applicants as follows.
(1) About the half of the total grant (say, US$ 3,200) would be use for
this purpose.
(2) US$ 300 - 400 for one who comes from East and South-east Asian
countries, and US$ 500 - 700 for one the rest of the World can be subsidized.
(3) The priority would be given, first to the post-graduate students from
non-OECD countries, secondly to the post-graduate students from OECD
countries, thirdly to faculty members from non-OECD countries, and finally
to faculty members from OECD countries.
Those who have already some subsidy from their own country will be
excluded, and the priority also would be given to those who gave up their
attendance because of their failure to apply for travel grant in their own
country over those who already decided their attendance).
2. I have already received the half of the grant from the KRF, but the half
will be given, when I will submit the proceedings to the KRF. That is, the
publication of proceedings of the conference is obligatory to me. Thus I
solicit that all (except only few, if any) participants send me the full
paper to the end of June.
