<flushboth>The complex political dynamics of development in Africa have become
an increasingly important set of considerations amongst international
development institutions in recent years. We are interested in arranging
either a session or a set of sessions based around the broad theme of the
politics of development in sub-Saharan Africa. The aim of the session is
to explore critical new perspectives and to bring together geographers
who are currently working on one or more of a set of key debates within
contemporary African studies, including: the state, civil society (and
state-society relations), geopolitics and development and cultural
politics of identity in post-colonial Africa. We are seeking a broad range
of papers which deal with these issues either empirically or theoretically.</flushboth>
<flushboth>Those interested should submit an abstract of 250 words to Giles Mohan.</flushboth>
