LAST RESORTS: TOURISM AND CHANGE AT THE SEASIDE
Convenors: Gareth Shaw and Allan Williams (University of Exeter)
This module addresses the causes, mechanisms and consequences of changes in
coastal resorts, a phenomenon of increasing importance for both the tourism
sector and for localities. It seeks to investigate both the broader cultural
and politico-economic shifts that have informed resort changes in the UK,
Europe and elsewhere, as well as the changes in institutions, firms,
policies and communities at the local level.
If you would like a paper to be considered for presentation please send or
email a 250 word abstract by July 28 2000 to one of the organisers.
