I am not in that Department at LSE (but I was in Alan's!), but merely
duplicating what was printed in the advert.
Ambition in general could be good or bad, depending on its application. But,
personally, it is usually the ambitious academics I find to be the worst and
least-friendly colleagues, so I concur.
It is equally rare to see an advert for an 'unambitious' lecturer! I expect
some lecturers become so, disillusioned by the workloads, pay, or rivalries.
Truly an extraordinary profession.
