LECTURESHIPS POSTS
ONE-YEAR (TEMPORARY) POSTS (REF:208/2000)
(One full-time and one half-time post).
Applications are invited for the above full-time and part-time
temporary academic posts. The appointee will be required to
contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research
on a range of Library and Information Studies programmes.
Applications will be considered from candidates with expertise within
a broad definition of Library and Information Studies. The following
areas of specialisation are particularly welcome:
- Information retrieval, electronic library systems, database
management systems;
- Presentation of information, digitisation and multimedia;
- Publishing and the book-trade;
- Book history, print culture, rare books curatorship, preservation and
conservation;
- Management of information agencies.
The appointments will be made at the level of Assistant Lecturer.
Assistant Lecturer Ir£16,600 to Ir£26,791.
Entry point will be in accordance with qualifications and experience.

Systems Demonstrator
Permanent Post (Ref: 209/2000)
Applications are invited for a full-time, permanent, post as Systems
Demonstrator in the Department of Library and Information Studies.
The appointee will act as systems and network manager and
technical adviser to the Department in relation to the operation,
maintenance and development of the Department’s computer
facilities. S/he will also be responsible for the management of printed
and electronic resources used in research and teaching. S/he will
contribute to teaching in technology based courses.
Candidates should have a qualification in Computer Science,
Information Studies, or a related subject. Systems knowledge of MS
Windows is essential. Some familiarity with Windows NT or Novell
networks is desirable. Experience of using commercial information
services in online or cd-rom formats is an asset. Excellent
organisational and interpersonal skills are required.
The current salary scale is: Ir£17,475 to Ir£22,429.
