Dear James and all,
We will indeed provide anybody who requests it a printed
copy of an issue of LSJ. However, as LSJ is subscription
free we don't have any money to play with so will have to
charge a small fee for monochrome print-outs (to cover our
printing and postage expenses).
Off the top of my head i have no idea how much it would
cost to print an entire issue, but it could be quite
expensive considering the number of pages currently on the
website. And we still have to add Tristan Gray Hulse's
article which, Tris informs us, is 33 pages long!!!
It should be borne in mind that LSJ is an e-journal and is
designed as such. Thus, many of the features that are in
the online version will not be available in the printed
version. Issue 1 is relatively traditional in its
structure, although it does include internal and
external links that would be lost on printing - Katy's
image map for instance which allows users to link to the
relevant information by clicking on the location (see the
Wells in Depth article). We also intend to include features
such as databases, sound clips, video streams in future
issues. Obviously, these cannot be printed!
In summary, yes we can print articles or an entire issue
but it will cost and will not represent the full
functionality of LSJ.
Cheers,
Rich (on behalf of the Editors of LSJ)
