- IASTED Technical Committee on Computer Graphics and Imaging
LOCATION
Las Vegas offers a variety of entertainment options, including shopping
malls, museums, amusement parks, Broadway shows and casinos. In fact,
tourists often find themselves so awed by the spectacular Strip and downtown
sights that many of them forget there is life, culture and a strong sense of
community just minutes away from the main visitor areas. Las Vegas has its
own curious history as reflected by its museums, monuments and other sites.
Just outside of Las Vegas you will find some of the world's most magnificent
sites: the Grand Canyon, Death Valley and Hoover Dam. All of these sites are
accessible by car or bus.
Symposium Aims and Scope:
**********************************
Computer Aided techniques for geometric design are extremely useful tools in
a number of industrial settings. Specifically, the application of geometry
to current problems of designing and manufacturing have grown at a large
scale. In addition to its critical importance in the traditional fields of
automobile and aircraft manufacturing, shipbuilding, and general product
design, more recently, the CAGD methods have also proven to be indispensable
in a variety of modern industries, including computer vision, robotics,
medical imaging, visualisation, and even media.
The purpose of the Geometric Design symposium within this conference is to
focus on interdisciplinary methods and affiliate research done among various
disciplines with the goal of stimulating views and providing a forum where
researchers and practitioners can discuss the latest developments linked to
Computer Graphics and Imaging.
Papers presenting original research with the theme of "Geometric Design" are
being sought. Suggested topics include (but are not limited to):
** Curve and Surface Design
** Visualization
** Computer Graphics
** Geometric Modeling
** Geometric Algorithms
** Manufacturing Geometry
** Computational Geometry
** Reverse Engineering
** Solid Modeling
** Computer Aided Design (CAD)
** Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM)
** Character Design
** Multiresolution Methods
** Geometric Transformations
** Mesh Processing
** Shape Abstraction and Modeling
** Shape Analysis and Description
** Industrial Applications
The International Program Committee and the Technical Committee on Computer
Graphics and Imaging will make all decisions concerning the acceptance of
papers. Send your submission via email to [log in to unmask] by June 22,
2000. Please send electronic attachments in MS Word (.doc) or (.ps/.pdf)
formats. The full papers submitted for review should be no more than ten
(10) pages in length. Be sure to include references with your paper.
Please provide four keywords to indicate the subject areas of the paper with
at least one keyword from the list given under conference scope. Include a
statement in your cover letter confirming that if the paper is accepted, one
of the authors will attend the conference to present it. Please indicate the
corresponding author, and provide the full names, affiliations, full mailing
addresses (including postal codes), telephone numbers, fax numbers, and
email addresses of all authors. Notification of acceptance will be emailed,
and all other author information will be available on the conference webpage
by August 01, 2000. Registration payments and camera-ready manuscripts are
due October 01, 2000. Papers may be excluded from the proceedings if
registration fees are not received by that date. Please send final
manuscripts by email. Do not send both hard and electronic copies of the
final manuscript.
