A patient in an IOP addictions group reported being very unhappy and a total
lack of enegry, since he has stopped doing drugs. This was after 60 days of
self reported no drug use.
The Dr. at our agency prescribed welbutren 150mg per day for him. this was
monday afternoon. by tuesday the pt reported feeling better.
by thursday, the pt. reported that he had more energy, was "more happy" and
was feeling pretty good about life.
My question is: Could that drug have worked so quickly? Or was the change
produced by something else.
I was under the impression that most anti depressent drugs take some time to
start working, and that one or two days is not enough time to have any
effect.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
