Replying to Andreas!
Is there a KM perspective? When I look at KM from the point of view of identifying organisational forms there seems to be at least two. One approach is the information gathering and use the other is about knowledge creation. The latter includes learning and innovation (see Nonaka & Takaeuchi).
Human capital theory is a variant of functionalist organisational theory and fits into the information gathering approach well. However if the approach is towards knowledge creation then HC theory has to be reworked.
Where organisations are secretive about their 'knowledge' they sacrifice an essential quality of knowledge creation which is about dialogue, debate and strategic conversations.
Would anyone on the list care to share their university course outlines with me and have a dialogue about teaching KM. We are just putting together some courses at undergrad and post-grad level with a focus on 'managing' a KM environment.

Hi!
I'm a student at University of Bergen and my thesis is about Knowledge Management. After a quick look at the articles in the database I miss one thing. A basic look at KM. Where to locate Intellectual capital/Human resource in a KM perspective? Where to locate KM technology? Where to locate information?
Why go for the most technological explanations before showing the foundation of KM??
I am aware of the vast amount of solutions and views within the KM concept but are there no starting point?? If not - then it's time to start a discussion about it!!
Waiting for feed back!
