"Pederasty and Childhood Sexual Abuse in History: Acting Out a Fear of Mommy"
The Distinguished Lecturer for the 23rd Annual Convention of the
International Psychohistorical Association will be given by Prof. Jerrold
Atlas of Long Island University on June 7, 200 at 2:00 PM. Dr. Atlas will
be replacing Richard Rhodes, who has unfortunately had to cancel his
presentation.
Dr. Atlas will begin by citing the solid evidence now available on how most
boys were raped from antiquity through the Renaissance, on how maternal
incest has been widespread throughout history and is still a major problem
in some countries, on how incest in England as late as the 19th century
resulted in doctors finding children with venereal diseases on their
mouths, genitals and anuses when their fathers had the disease, and how
childhood sexual abuse was and continues to be far more widespread in
history than we have previously thought.
Other topics covered by Dr. Atlas will include Talmudic acceptance of
masturbating children, Byzantine eunuchs, Attic and Roman pederasty, the
statistical evidence on Renaissance sodomy, royal French child abuse,
Japanese maternal seduction of sons and other topics reinforcing the
paradigm of "the universality of child abuse."
