Dear list
We are trying to calculate the NNT for bracing versus non-bracing
after ACL reconstruction from the paper Risberg et al (1999) American
Journal of Sports Medicine 27, 1, 76-83.
Unfortunately the authors did not provide raw data, in terms of
number of patients in each group who benefited using the outcome of a
Cincinnati score (maximum score is 100), from a pre-op baseline to a
3 month post-op score. They provide us with a mean score for each
group and a SD score.
The data are:
Pre-op:
Bracing group: mean 59.62 (SD24.0)
Non-bracing group: mean 62.2 (SD17.5)
N=30 in each group
Post-op:
Bracing: 69.1 (SD12.4) (n=30)
Non-bracing group: 62.7 (SD14.6) (n=26)
Can anyone advise us on how to calculate the NNT from these mean
scores and SD data?
Many thanks, in advance for your help
