Dear List Members
I had hoped that this mailing list would be used to discuss AI, but I have not yet seen any evidence for this. That being the case I would like to describe a thought experiment which I would like to discuss.
Assume that I was able to set up a computer simulation of my brain and its initial conditions at some instant in time. Now I set the simulation going and feed in the sensory inputs over the next, say, 5 seconds.
(i) Would the behaviour of my simulation diverge from my own behaviour ??
- if so, why ?? e.g. Is my brain's sensitive to intial conditions ??
(ii) Is my assumptipn that I can set up such a simulation *fundamentally unreasonable* ??
I realise that what I have said above is not particularly rigorous. I would like to be able to discuss the above thought experiment with you in order to *tighten it up* and explore it further.
Cheers
David
