Dear Friends,
Please give your valuable opinion
regarding restoration of cervical traction
in 70 yrs old male.
He came to me with pain in the neck and radicular pain in the left shoulder
which came in waves
after waves of pain on examination flexion of neck centralized pain where
as slight attempt to extend neck resulted in severe pain migrating in C5C6
distribution over left shoulder deltoid region.
He is not a diabetic ,and no H/O fever ,trauma ,cough test is negative
.X-ray show decreased IVD in C5C6 .He is having forward head posyure and in
a job requiring prolonged neck flexion. He had
suffered from low back pain few months back which was abolished by using
McKenzie MDT
method. Due to ignorance of his work on cervical spine I just asked him to
do flexion of neck with
pressure at end range. His ROM rotation towards lift side is restricted more
on left than on right
repeated test movements doesn't periheralize his pain. However lateral
flexion is also restricted and painful on left side and painless on right
side.
I have
abolished his pain by rotation to right and flexion
movements ,Now he is having only one or two waves per day .But problem is
he is living his life
with head down position slight attempt to extend neck is painful .
Please let me know how to restore extension in this case so that he can
face world with head held heigh on his shoulder.
Thanking you
