I have 56.6 thingy connection and usually get 50. Dropped recently to 32 and
actually stopped working. A change of modem cable lead restored the speed.
As I know you live in deep rural Gloucester on a farm, my guess is that your
phone line is the car equivalent of a model T Ford ie old and slow. I would
hassle BT and threaten them with customer services and OFTEL.
I am still waiting for my free NTL World 24 hour on the web for nothing
disc. This was promised with n 28 days of launch. We are now on day 32 :-(

Hi
I am having connectivity problems and am sure those out there may have more
technical knowdge than I have. My modem actually operates at around 26k
thingies. My service provider says it should work at around 46k. I've got a
56k modem and Dell cant seem to raise the speed. The prime suspect is BT but
they dont seem to be able to do anything short of trying to sell me Home
Highway. Is this a rip off? I've also followed the earliery threads about
cheapy internet links but am now peed off with recorded messages. Also I'm
not in a cable area.
Looking forward etc
