RESEARCH FELLOW – Evaluating London Health
Action Zones
A new post is available on a project co-ordinating the
evaluation of London-based Health Action Zones (HAZs).
HAZs have been set up in areas which were identified as having
high levels of mortality, morbidity and deprivation. Their
purpose is to identify health needs in the local area and to
address these by interventions including modernising services,
improving access, developing partnerships, encouraging
participation and setting targets. There are four HAZs in
London, namely Brent, Camden and Islington, East London and
the City, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark, this post will
involve evaluating interventions in these areas. Further details on

Applicants must have: a relevant degree; experience of project/
policy evaluation; knowledge of qualitative & quantitative
research methods; & excellent communication & organisation
skills. An interest in research in poverty or health inequalities &
knowledge of community based interventions are desirable.
Salary: £20,319 -£26,613 pa inclusive. Appointment: 2 years
from as soon as possible after 1 May in the first instance.
