Welfare might be of interest.
Research Assistant
Department of Applied Social Science
(0.5 for 24 months)
A Research Assistant is required to join this large, interdisciplinary
Department, which includes Social Policy, Sociology, Social Work and Housing
Studies. The Department received a 5* in the 1996 RAE, and an 'excellent'
rating in the 1995 TQA Sociology round for work on its integrated degree
course in Sociology and Social Policy. The post is attached to the Centre
for Comparative Research in Social Welfare.
The post-holder will be required to assist in the development of grant
submissions for cross-national research projects; conduct literature
searches and retrieval of relevant information; to assist in the
organisation of seminars and other academic activities within the Centre.
The post would suit candidates interested in pursuing concurrently a higher
degree in social science on a part-time basis (MSc in Applied Social
Research or PhD), the fees of which would be waived.
This part-time post is expected to commence on 15 September 2000 and will be
fixed term for 24 months. Salary will be within Grade 1B of the Research and
Analogous Staff salary scale (£16,286 - £18,185 per annum, pro rata).
