Project Officer: ASTER Project - Assisting small-group teaching through
electronic resources
Applications are invited for a full-time Project Officer post on the ASTER
Project which is funded under the Teaching and Learning Technology
Programme (Phase 3). The post is available for one year initially although
the project is anticipated to receive funding until September 2001.
ASTER is a cross-disciplinary consortium project led by the University of
York (Psychology) and with partners at the Universities of Oxford
(Humanities) and Surrey (Physics) as well as at University College
Northampton. The aim of the project is to establish and disseminate
principles of good practice in the use of C&IT for small-group teaching
across a range of discipline areas focussing on Physics, Psychology and
areas of the Humanities. The project has been running since September 1998
and we are seeking a person to take a broad view of the literature survey
and case study material collected to date and establish any differences and
themes in small group teaching both within and between the disciplines
covered. There is scope for theoretical developments. The project officer
is expected to be closely involved in the development of dissemination
materials which will include documentation, workshops and interactive
Web-based media.
The successful applicant will hold graduate and/or postgraduate
qualifications in Psychology or Education and will have experience of, and
an interest in, pedagogy, especially the use of educational technology.
Good communication and organisational skills are essential. Salary within
the range of: £15,737 - £24,011 per annum.
