Many thanks for the constructive and helpful comments sent to all.
In response to the personal attack - I did state that I had made recent
searches of the most relevant database for pertinent articles. This does not
make me either perfect or conceited enough to believe I had done all I
could - and that there would be many knowledgeable people out there that may
wish to help. Many have, and I have thanked them personally as well as
through this medium. Some of those I have not had before - and am thus more
informed by their responses.
As to the second point - I do not consider that I have not demonstrated
"genuine enquiries and demonstrating evidence of suitable prior effort" -
what ever this might be construed by you to be?
As a final point - if you do not wish to contribute to my understanding
that is your choice - but it is not, in my opinion, within any 'code of
conduct' correct to make a personal attack public, simply to satisfy your
own sense of disquiet. This is and has been a point made recently on the
mailbase - perhaps you missed it?

Subject: RE: Goniometric measurement
Why would someone who has published...
1. Publications: a. M.Watson & R Shutt. 'Movement Recording and Analysis: An
Innovative and Economical Method using a P.C.'. Physiotherapy Journal Volume
18, No.7 (P.485)
(b.) M.Watson &R.Shutt. Movement Recording and Analysis using a P.C.: An
Innovative Application using existing Technology. Clinical Rehabilitation.
December 1993.
...and is a codirector of a firm marketing the "Angles" goniometer
not have the references on goniometry/reliability freely available on the
databases.
His current work on the use and awareness of IM&T suggest that it is not
through lack of access to the net.
I was looking for Mr. Shutt's e-mail address in order to send the results of
several hours of research in order to save him the trouble but feel less
inclined to once I read his background.
I remember a long discussion about genuine enquiries and demonstrating
evidence of suitable prior effort before submitting requests on the physio
list. Perhaps it is time to highlight the code of conduct again.

Subject: Goniometric measurement
Hi,
can anyone please point me in the direction of any papers that have
investigated the reliability (or not!) of the standard goniometer. So far
Medline/Cinhal has thrown up very little.
It has always been my understanding that both the inter and intra ratings
for this clinical tool are rather low! - but can't find the references.
Many thanks
