Subject: A small reflection
Hello everyone on the list,
I' ve been watching (read: reading) the developments on this list since a
few years. I enjoyed this (discussion) list very much. The input of
students, clinicians, lecturers and researchers was a very fine way of
looking into the daily experiences, views, questions and enigmas of us all.
There were great interactions which would be unable in traditional
information lines. We were able to reflect on very interesting items,
integrate them in our clinical work or research and of course question and
discuss them. I felt that although we didn't know each other, we were all
thinking and striving for a common goal: treating physiotherapy/physical
therapy as it should be, as a science whereas patients should be able to
rely on evidence based healthcare to become better. Since a few months
however, I feel that - although the input is still very interesting and
valuable in a content area - we are kind of sitting in front of our computer
ready to argue rather than reflect and discuss. This leads us towards some
akward messages in which colleagues are attacking others and/or defending
others or themselves. These activities are of course fundamental rights of
mankind or should I state basic instincts of humans. Perhaps, even this
message will invite again some reactions and arguements, although this was
not the intention. Perhaps even some of us will see this message as a
personal attack, although it is not.
Perhaps I'm a conservative or a tradionalist who is over-reacting and who's
place is no longer on this list as I misunderstood recent postings. Than it
be so.
Nevertheless, I think that restoring the good understanding, reflection and
discussion on this list would be a meaningful activity; it would be a pitty
that it should turn out otherwise.
Regards,
Dirk Cambier
