The thirty-third issue of *Research in Germanic Studies* is now
available on the web at:
http://www.cutg.ac.uk/rigs/index.htm
For those not familiar with RiGS, it is an annual survey of current
research in Germanic Studies in Great Britain and Ireland. This
year, for the first time, it is being published only on the internet: it
details theses submitted in 1999, theses currently in progress, and
work published in 1999 by members of the Conference of University
Teachers of German in Great Britain and Ireland.
Many thanks to all the CUTG members who provided the information
from which RiGS 1999-2000 was compiled. If there are any
corrections or additions to report, please let me know as soon as
possible - one of the advantages of web publication is that the site
can be updated, although it will not be updated indefinitely. If you
have any technical problems accessing or navigating around the
site, please also let me know. I've checked it using Netscape
Navigator and MS Internet Explorer; there's a no-frames version
should you be using a non-frames-capable browser, and you can
also download the data as a single document in MS Word for
Windows 97.
If you do not have web access, you can still retrieve the document
file from Mailbase by sending an e-mail message to
[log in to unmask]
saying (in the body of the message)
get mime german-studies rigs9900.doc
The 'mime' bit is important - it means you will be sent the whole
(307 Kb) document as one file by e-mail attachment.
I'll be giving a short demonstration of the website at the CUTG
meeting in Southampton next week - I look forward to seeing many
of you there!
