Hello, Thomas and all the people, who were taking part in this discussion,
I am feeling, that I have started this discussion for nothing. All this
began after very emotional response to the first message of Paul Treanor.
There were too much irony and sarcasm, what was inexcusable.
I just wanted to say, that we should not criticize, but provide those who
govern with the information about the ways of solving the problems in the
society, economy etc. Being a public prosecutor is very easy. You are
responsible for nothing. Your role is the easiest one.
I am asking all of you to take another position. If you say "I don't like
......., because ......." <bold>please add "but I propose ......... , and I
think, this can improve the situation"</bold>.
Need an example? We were discussing the mortality in Russia from 1960 to
1994. Here is one image scanned from "Demographic yearbook 1999" published
by the State Commitee of Statistics (www.gks.ru) (it is non-interlaced

Blue line is birth rate, violet line is death-rate. But it is not all. I
have seen the first version of the "Forecast of the population of Rissia in
the 2016". The "middle" variant expects the decline of the population of
Russia from 148 Millions to 135 Millions of people in the 2016,
"optimistic" one - to 142 Millions. I will get it soon as the Winword-file
and I will immediately place it on my website (it will be officially
published only in August).

Do I? Do I deny something? Paul, using the example I gave you, you can say,
that economic reforms are horrible, people die, mortality rate is horrible
(you can continue, you do it much better than me). By the way, it easy to
compare the man who disagrees with you with David Irving (I have lost my
two great-grandfathers in the WW2, and I don't know, where their graves
are, so, this comparsion is for me.. well.. let's forget it). But what's
next? What should the Russian government do? What measures should it take?
What do you propose? Or you don't know?

Professors in HSE teach us "if you know, how to do it, do it". If you are
criticizing, propose something else. Standing on the soapbox and only
criticizing is very easy. We have lots of politicians, who say "everything
the government does is not right". And they do not propose something else.
Being "defender of the weak", some kind of Robin Hood is very easy. Those,
who are doing something, often make mistakes. But they do something!!!
Ray Thomas has posted the article about first Russian President Boris
Yeltsin with lots of irony and criticism. But he is the only politician who
honestly said "I was making big mistakes. Something, what I supposed to be
easy to do, was not. Maybe I was idealistic. I must ask all of you to
forgive me for the mistakes I have done". Those, who need someone's head on
the plate will newer understand this. They are looking in the past, looking
for those, who, they think, are "guilty". Let us look in the future, let's
solve the problems we have in the social policy, decisions of the
governments etc etc etc and the history will decide, who was right and who
was wrong.
I think, now my position is absolutely clear. If someone wants to continue
the discussion, let's make a new list, for example "Sociology-ethics" and
move there. I think, others are already bored with this storm in the glass
of water.
