The Germplasm Resources Information Network's (GRIN) Plant Taxonomy
Homepage is now also available in Spanish and Portuguese.
You can visit the site at
"http://www.ars-grin.gov/npgs/tax/"
The main purpose of this database is to provide nomenclature for
all plants of interest to the United States Department of
Agriculture. In addition to scientific names, this database
includes common names, native distribution, economic impacts,
literature citations, and links to accessions when these are
available.
GRIN taxonomy allows queries on commercially
important plants from throughout the world. Searches for plants
used for medicine, food, ornament, timber, erosion control,
pesticides, food additives, fuel, forage, and genetic resources, as
well as those which serve as poisons and weeds are possible.
GRIN also provides information on rare and endangered plant species
in the U.S., and those subject to CITES restrictions.
You are encourage you to visit and use this site.
