Cze,
Carol van Driel Murray (U of Amsterdam) recently presented a paper on
leather production and footwear at a romanisation conference at Oxford. The
paper was mostly about the adoption of Roman techniques, style, comfort,
personal expression, etc. in NW Europe and Britain, but I'm sure there was
reference to pre-roman footwear so her paper may be a good place to look.
