I hate to rain on the parade, but NHS direct (or something similar) is
inevitable. It would seem sensible to try and improve it rather than just
wish it would go away. If we don't take charge of NHS direct as a
profession we stand to lose a lot of ground in shaping our future services
(and workload).
Lack of resources is a seperate issue, and complaining that the money spent
on NHS direct could better be spent on the shop floor, although tempting, is
futile.
