Dear Eunice and Ron
I'm so sorry you've had a problem getting to the new website, especially since I
so frequently enjoy reading the letters on your own site and even more especially
since I was hoping to ask you about two Victorian Turkish Baths in Melbourne!
I'm afraid I don't know enough about computers to tell why you are having a
problem. I do know that it's almost impossible using Netscape and I've been
tearing out the few hairs I still have to get it to work with very little success.
But you seem to be the only ones so far to have a difficulty with IE. (And, no! I
wouldn't spent 38 minutes either.)
I have never heard of a virtual machine before, so I can only ask if it's a modern
version of Windows (I'm sure you wouldn't get IE5 otherwise); I've not heard of
any trouble with Macs either. And, possibly most important, have you got Java
enabled? Alas, I can only hope someone with more knowledge than I comes to our
rescue.
Just to check. When you enter http://www.victorianturkishbath.org/ you should
come to a blue screen with a small oblong button underneath saying "Come on in!".
You were obviously able to get to the enlargement of the picture with credits by
clicking on the picture (which is what happens with every picture on the site.
I have to go to Liverpool tomorrow so I can't ask my nephew who is quite good on
these things. All I can suggest in the meantime is to see whether you can get into
the middle of the site and then work backwards. Perhaps this might work if you try
some of the following urls:
http://www.victorianturkishbath.org/1INTRODUCTORY/INTRODUCTORY.htm
http://www.victorianturkishbath.org/2HISTORY/2WOTSINIT.htm
http://www.victorianturkishbath.org/3TOPICS/1TOPIC.htm
http://www.victorianturkishbath.org/5COMPANIES/1COMPANY.htm
http://www.victorianturkishbath.org/6DIRECTORY/1DIRECTRY.htm
http://www.victorianturkishbath.org/ASOURCES/1SOURCES.htm
http://www.victorianturkishbath.org/BPIXINDEX/PIX.htm
With all best wishes, and again, my sincere apologies.
Malcolm
