Just done an archive search of the Guardian website.
Brown's latest ant-fraud 'initiative' is something
like the 9th in just over a year (based on search
terms 'benefit and fraud'). In other words, this
isn't so much about policy as PR (check the front
pages of today's papers if you don't agree).
Incidentally, the govt. claims £500m in lost benefits.
Apparently the govt. received *£2bn* in *unspent*
social security payments.
I'm all for the proper allocation of public money, but
one does wonder sometimes, one really does...
