Apologies if this has been covered, but is there software that will let you respond and annotate digitized recordings? I.E. some sort of software transcription machine? That way you could digitize your tapes, annotate and index them on the computer, and not have to shell out for an expensive transcription machine.
On a related note, I've seen that Sony has a minidisc recorder that will take a foot pedal, but it costs $900. Has anyone seen a less-expensive minidisc recorder that will take a footpedal?
thank you,
MC

I use VIA VOICE but it takes 30 minutes PLUS to adjust to your own voice,
and would have to be adjusted for each additional recorder - possible as you
can have multiple users.
So I am also interested - I'll bet secret services have such a machine :-)
but making that available to needy academics in useful pursuits and not
practising entrapment etc...............................................!
