CAQDAS Networking Project (UK)

The ESRC funded project aims to provide support for the use of
Computer Assisted Qualitative Data AnalysiS. Seminars, this internet
discussion list and the project web site provide on-going free resources to
provide accessible information and debate.
Additionally training events focus on 1 day software-specific and 2 day
CAQDAS Introductory workshops
which aim to train the beginner in the use of a range software programs.
Academic and charitable institution discounts are available for these
training events.
ESRC funding allows a certain number of places on each Training course to be
allocated at very reduced rates to postgraduate students.

SEMINAR PROGRAMME: (places are free but limited seating may mean they have
to be allocated)
24 May 2000 2pm: Alan Cartwright is beta-testing a new multi-media software
CISAID. He will demonstrate the working software
and take part in discussion about its applications. Alan describes the
software thus:
"CISAID has been designed from the bottom up for the analysis of Dialogues
and conversations. It also has a lot of features designed to enhance
sequential analysis of relationships. It is quite clearly focused on the
assumption that qualitative and quantitative approaches are complementary
but that all analysis should be closely linked to the source data.
Consequently, the user is rarely more than one mouse click away from the
original data-sound, video or text" venue to be announced (Central London,
or University of Surrey)

Institute, LONDON.
Lyn Richards and Tom Richards of QSR will demonstrate and discuss
differences between latest versions of the two QSR software packages,
and the methodological changes they are part of:
"NVivo and NUD*IST?: developing software for evolving methods and new
possibilities."
(This seminar precedes the opening session of the conference being run
"Strategies in Qualitative Research :Issues and results from analysis
using QSR NVivo and NUD*IST" by the Institute of Education, University of
London)
