There is a 'well known' instance of an almost certain fake in Manx Studies
re an emigrant's diary 'added to' by some later family member

and published in 1935 (and regretably again in late 1960's)
Of course fake ownership documents were not unknown in early monestaries in
order to prove ownership of land/ gain status etc.
