How have recent developments in IT affected your service? What opportunities
do these developments offer? What impact have these changes had on library
staff and the end-user?
library.com - we're delivering service!
is a one day workshop on 5 April at LAHQ, in London which will explore these
issues and much more!
Recent developments in information technology have had a huge impact on the
delivery of library service. The advancement of Web technologies and the
Internet have brought with them training implications for librarians who are
now faced with getting to grips with the new technologies whilst maintaining
consistency of service. But how have end-users reacted and what
possibilities and opportunities are available to enable your library to
deliver services through technology?
SIRSI Ltd are pleased to sponsor this one day workshop which looks at some
of the recent developments in IT that are enabling libraries to offer
service in new innovative ways.
Examples of recent library projects will be reviewed, several of which have
been funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and Elib, with
some speakers giving practical demonstrations of their projects.
How will this event help you?
At the end if the workshop participants will have:
* explored different ways of facilitating service through the use of
IT
* identified some of the training needs of library staff and end-users
* an awareness of new trends in service delivery
* an appreciation of some of the major funded library projects
Who will benefit from attending?
Directors and managers who have a strategic responsibility for service
delivery in public and academic libraries.
