At Wiltshire we are currently in the process of reviewing our
archaeological services, partly to pre-empt the best value exercise, and
have so far completed and internal review. Having done this it is now
our intention to carry out an external review of our existing and
potential (should be interesting to work out who these people are)
clients/customers. This is something we will be doing in the next few
weeks.
The questionnaire has yet to be put together but my initial thoughts are
that it will be built around the issues raised in the internal review,
with a few extra items added.
I to would be interested to know who else has conducted similar surveys
and what their results have been. If you are interested I will keep you
informed of the progress of our survey.
I am aware that some survey work has been carried out in North
Yorkshire, the results were presented at the SMR users group seminar
held in London towards the end of last year. The results were of some
interest but I'm not sure what state they are currently in.
All the best
