We applied to DG10 two years ago for funding for just
such a dedicated PC to allow us to provide access to
electronic sources of eu information. It has been
a great success and is used by members of the public and
students from other universities and colleges as well as
our own students and staff. Its not attached to our
student server and it cannot be used for word processing,
email etc. It is used for EU CD-ROMs as well as the
Internet. We dont have any way of restricting use to
selected Internet sites but have not found this to be a
problem. This may be because it is just outside our
office, within eyeshot as it were, and it can only be used
during office hours.
I dont know if the OJ CD-ROM can be networked but it has
been loaded on this PC for some time and we have had
no problems with it. Our users prefer it to the microfiche
copies which we received in the past. Regards Liz
