Further details of Exeter Graduate Teaching Assistant
(GTA) scheme in Russian

Applicants for the GTA in Russian must meet the following
conditions:
* Applicants must hold a BA degree (class 2.1 or above) by
31 July 2000, and preferably also an MA in Russian Studies,
or their equivalents;
* Applicants must intend to follow a programme of research
leading to a PhD in any one of the following areas of
expertise of the academic staff:
- twentieth-century Russian literature
- twentieth-century Russian poetry
- Russian literary theory (particularly Bakhtin)
- Russian women's writing
- nineteenth-century literature (particularly Dostoevskii);
* Applicants must have native or near-native knowledge of
English and Russian.
Previous teaching experience is helpful but not essential.
Please note that the GTA studentship of 9750 pounds
sterling (renewable for up to three years) covers home
(UK)/EU tuition fees and maintenance allowance only.
International (non-UK/EU) applicants are advised that
current tuition fees and maintenance costs for 1999/2000
are estimated at a total of 13,710 pounds sterling per
annum (including 7,110 pounds sterling for tuition fees
per annum). International applicants must be able to meet
the difference in costs between the GTA studentship and the
total cost of fees and maintenance for international
students. This is currently calculated at 3960 pounds
sterling per annum.
Applicants for the award must first have been accepted
on a research degree programme at the University of Exeter.
