International Comparative Programmes in the Social Sciences

Background: The dissemination of research experience is a major task of the
international organizations in the field of social sciences. UNESCO-MOST and
the International Social Science Council (ISSC) have a special
responsibility in this respect because of the stress of their activities on
international comparative research projects. This is the most promising
research field in the social sciences. The accumulated experience in this
field has to be shared with young researchers thus facilitating the capacity
building in social sciences.

International Comparative Programmes in the Social Sciences

Union of Scientists in Bulgaria
Objectives:
To present the activities of MOST, ISSC and FEF before an international
audience of about 30 young scholars;
To present two projects of MOST;
To present two programmes of the ISSC;
To present other research and educational projects in the social sciences;
To facilitate the debate between leading researchers and young scholars;
To facilitate the professional contacts between the young scholars.
Selection procedure:
The leading scholars involved in the preparation of the School will be
invited to suggest active young scholars as participants.
The networks of MOST and ISSC will be informed about the School and asked to
support the attraction of prospective young participants.
Financing:
Grants from UNESCO-MOST, ISSC and Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation.
The participants from the developed countries will be expected to cover
their travel expenses.
The organizers have to cover the travel expenses of participants from low
income countries.
