A new master's degree program has been established in Venice, called
the "European Master's Degree in Human Rights and Democratization". This
initiative, sponsored by the European Union, was established in 1997, and
involves the cooperation of 15 European universities. It addresses issues
of human rights and democratization from both an operational and policy
perspective. Graduates receive a degree from the University of Padua.
