The Graduate Program of Applied Visualization in the School 
of Architecture at Mississippi State University has two vacancies 
for sponsored research assistantships in the area of anthropometric 
measurement and bio-mechanical modeling.

The program offers a Master of Science Degree in Applied Visualization.
This degree program is an inter-disciplinary, research-oriented academic 
experience for individuals who wish to apply digital modeling and 
visualization tools to research and design problems, many of which may 
cross traditional boundaries. 

Anthropometric Research Project
The thrust of this research initiative is four-fold:
1) the development of appropriate anthropometric measurement
techniques for people with disabilities and the aging

2) the creation of a database, of measurement results, of use
to designers, clinicians, insurance and financial planners,
and public policy developers

3) the generation of three-dimensional datasets, from the 
measurement results, for use in the design of environments
and products, especially those used by people with disabilities 
and the aging

4) the application of three-dimensional datasets in product
and environmental design for the construction of proof-of-concept
artifacts for research and development purposes

Successful candidates may have backgrounds in a number of areas
including industrial design, visual communication design, 
architecture, computer science, and engineering.
