Greetings Friends and Colleagues,
First, let me apologize for cross-postings.
I am Principal Investigator for the Roeher Institute (Toronto, Canada)
on a project in which I am analysing how "risk" and disability are
currently constructed in discourses on genetic counseling, including
professional protocols and course curricula of genetic counseling
training programs. One of the anticipated outcomes of the project will
be a set of guidelines for genetic counselors, which will be made
available to prospective parents also. At this initial stage of the
project, I am critically reviewing theoretical/scholarly literature in
the area.
The Roeher Institute is Canada's leading policy research institute to
promote the human rights of disabled people. Over the past decade, the
Roeher has done a significant amount of work on genetic technologies,
reproductive technologies, etc. from a human rights perspective and has
compiled a substantial body of literature relevant to the project.
However, I would like to draw upon the resources and expertise of people
on this list. In particular, I would appreciate it if people were to
recommend and provide references to any articles or books which I must
be certain to read and consider in my analyses.
Please respond to me privately at [log in to unmask]
Best regards, and thanks in advance for your assistance,
Shelley Tremain
