Information and user-centred specialist
Overview
You will be responsible for developing information architecture solutions
for new media applications and ensuring that information design principles
are applied throughout projects. You'll work closely with the design,
technical and project management teams to design user-centred solutions for
clients including BT, Granada and the BBC.
Mahony Associates, is a consultancy which devises new ways to add value to
its clients' Web sites and inspires businesses and consumers to become part
of the online culture. Founded in 1996 by Karen Mahony, the company employs
a multidisciplinary team of information analysts, software engineers,
graphic designers, architects, information designers and behavioural
experts to create highly effective net products that deliver measurable
results.
Responsibilities
* Creating and mapping complex information structures
* Designing interfaces and navigation/information retrieval strategies to
allow users effective access to content
* Identifying and solving any usability issues
* Auditing, collating and classifying content, and drawing up content
schedules
* Producing documentation and guidelines
* Some project management and client liaison may also be required
Candidate Profile
You must have a degree in a relevant discipline, such as
graphic/information design, human-computer interaction or information
science/management and ideally some experience in a commercial
design/information management environment.
Required
* Experience of structuring large amounts of complex information
* User Interface design and HCI expertise - Web site/application experience
a particular advantage
* Good IT skills including some or all of the following: image production
software (e.g. Photoshop, Freehand, Quark Xpress), MS Office, HTML editors
(e.g. Dreamweaver), Visio. Knowledge of technologies such as XML, WAP,
databases, content management tools and search engines a plus
* A real interest in digital media and the associated issues
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
