Professors in HCI
Napier University, Edinburgh

Applications are invited for two positions of Professor in the School of
Computing at Napier University. It is hoped that at least one will be in a
specialist area of HCI and will join the HCI group. The HCI group currently
consists of 1 Professor, 4 senior lecturers, 6 lecturers, 3 research fellows and
9 PhD students. The interests of the group are wide ranging including HCI
theory, Design, activity theory, virtual environments, CSCW, Learning Support
Environments, Rehabilitation technologies. Mobile technologies, Multimedia
systems, E-commerce. The new professor would have an good reputation in one of
these areas, or in other expanding areas of HCI such as visualisation, novel
interaction modalities, the internet and cyber culture, etc. He or she will be
able to demonstrate excellent research potential and should be able to provide a
track record of quality research funding and publication.
The HCI group maintains excellent relationships with other HCI groups in
Scotland, the EC's I-cubed programme and with the database and evolutionary
computing groups at Napier who also have international reputations for their
research. Members of the HCI group are active across the UK through the BCS HCI
group, IFIP and various special interest groups. Physically the School of
Computing is located at Craiglockhart, about 3 miles from the centre of
Edinburgh.
