Call for participation:
"Can you hear us", 14-16 June,
Saltaire, Bradford
WHY: Many potential users are currently excluded from mobile
communications technology: older people, people with sensory
disabilities, people with motor disabilities.
This interdisciplinary design laboratory will take a fresh
look at the research issues concerning access to mobile
technology, from a user perspective.
WHO: We aim to attract a mix of: designers, technologists,
HCI researchers and user advocates.
HOW: The design laboratory format will culminate in an
exhibition of built models. It involves splitting
participants into interdisciplinary groups who will
physically realize designs that will elaborate the issues
that they feel are important. There will also be plenary
speakers including Alan Newell and Lindsey Etchell.
WHEN: Midday Wednesday 14 June to midday Friday 16 June, 2000
WHERE: Saltaire village in Bradford, West Yorkshire is a mill
village based around the famous Salts Mill. It is easily
accessible by rail, road or Leeds-Bradford Airport.
