TWO FACULTY POSITION OPENINGS
Due to increasing activities in Namur and in Charleroi, the University of
Namur is creating two professorships in computer science. The successful
candidates will take up their duties on September 1st, 2000.
Candidates must have a PhD, or equivalent (such as a civil engineer
degree), in computer science or in a related discipline. They must have
developed research at an international level, be capable of initiating
research projects, of collaborating with their colleagues and should
preferably have had experience in teaching adults. They should be able to
teach in French, at least after one year.

1. Professorship in Man-Machine Interface
and Information Systems Analysis
-----------------------------------------
To be appointed, you will be able to teach information systems analysis and
man-machine interface engineering (ergonomy, design and implementation).
You will be competent in software engineering. You will have developed
research projects in these domains, notably in collaboration with the
industrial world. You will ensure that your teaching and research integrate
into the general approach adopted by the Institute of Informatics in
information systems design and in software engineering.

2. Professorship in Data Bases
and Distributed Systems
------------------------------
To be appointed, you will be able to lecture on Cooperative and distributed
information systems engineering (technology and design), including database
aspects, and on Software Engineering. You will have developed research
projects in these areas. You will ensure that your teaching and research
integrate into the general approach adopted by the Institute of Informatics
in respect of information systems design and of software engineering.
The University is located in Namur, a nice 100,000-inhabitant town which is
the capital of Wallonia. It has more than 4,000 students and a staff of
about 1,000 persons, including 220 academics and 400 research associates.
The Institute of Informatics is the largest and the oldest Computer Science
faculty in Belgium. It has graduated more than 1,100 Master and PhD
students since 1973.
