A similar discussion has been already made, and invariably the comments are
of disappointment, embarrassment and (maybe) disgust.
OK, paramedics and emergency doctors are not depicted in a realistic way, we
all know that, and the advices of medical advisors are not taken into any
account. Maybe the same applies to aircraft pilots, accountants, lawyers,
priests, etc.
But, if I can agree with the disappointment and criticism towards
documentaries in which the reality is twisted, I cannot feel any sympathy
for the disappointment of those who watch fiction and expect to see a true
account of facts. I do not check the altimeter in an airplane shown on a
film, to see whether things are depicted realistically, do you?
Realistic scenes might not work in a particular setting. Either you like
watching a film because of the way screenplay, photography, sound track etc
are altogheter able to elicit emotions and convey a significant message or
you don't (these are reasons why I do not like soaps, not because healthcare
professionals, among all other characters, are fakes).
