Applications are invited for a one-year MA and a three-year PhD
studentship in German. Studentships cover fees at HEU rates plus
maintenance of £6620 per annum. The German Department offers
MA by Research and a taught M.A. on Contemporary German
Studies. Modules for session 2000-01 include: Literature of the
1980s in context; Intellectuals and the Wende; Constructing
Identities: texts of the 1990s; Recent women's writing; New German
Cinema; Sociological Aesthetics and Cultural Studies. At PhD level
the School can offer supervision in the medieval period and in most
areas of German Studies from the 18th to the 20th century.
